Privacy Policy
How we handle your information.
What we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it under POPIA.
Last updated: 4 August 2026
1Who we are
FlowSense is a water treatment monitoring platform operated by Sewtreat ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and the FlowSense application, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
We are the responsible party for this information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
2What we collect
We collect only what we need to respond to you and to run the service:
- Information you give us. Your name, company, email address, phone number and the content of your message when you complete an enquiry form or subscribe to updates.
- Account information. If your organisation uses FlowSense, the username, email address and role assigned to you by your administrator.
- Technical information. Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited and timestamps — used to keep the service secure and working.
We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and we do not collect special personal information as defined in POPIA.
3Plant and operational data
FlowSense processes readings from your plant equipment — flow, pressure, pH, turbidity, tank levels and similar. This is your organisation's operational data, not personal information, and it belongs to you.
We process it only to provide the service to you. We do not sell it, share it with other customers, or use it to train anything without your written agreement.
4Why we use it
- To answer your enquiry and provide the information you asked for.
- To provide, maintain and support the FlowSense platform.
- To send service notices — outages, security matters, material changes.
- To send marketing updates, but only where you have opted in. You can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
- To meet legal, regulatory and reporting obligations.
6How long we keep it
Enquiry correspondence is kept for up to 24 months after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete it sooner. Account information is kept for as long as your organisation holds a FlowSense subscription, and for a reasonable period after for legal and accounting purposes. Server logs are kept for up to 12 months.
7How we protect it
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, access controls, role-based permissions and regular review. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
8Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Object to processing, or withdraw consent you previously gave.
- Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
To exercise any of these, email us. We will respond within a reasonable period, and within any timeframe the law requires.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. Material changes affecting how we handle your personal information will be communicated directly where we can.
